Sort of a preliminary thing for a bigger thing I want to do (which may or may not ever get under way 
) basically: what if, instead of hunting them to extinction, early north americans had domesticated mammoths? And this is like way down the line, where we'd have bred them into different types and colors and whatnot. (and yeas, I know--mammoths = eurasia and mastodons = americas, but I like mammoths better.
